Ear wax removal

BOOK NOW
Safe. Comfortable. Effective. Ear wax (cerumen) plays an important role in keeping our ears healthy — but when it builds up, it can cause discomfort, hearing loss, and even infection. We offer safe, gentle, and effective micro-suction ear wax removal.
What Causes Ear Wax Build-Up? Ear wax is naturally produced in the ear canal to protect and lubricate the skin, and to trap dust and debris. Normally, wax moves outward on its own — however sometimes it can accumulate and block the ear canal.
Common causes of ear wax build-up include: Narrow or curved ear canals that trap waxExcessive ear wax production (some people naturally produce more)Use of cotton buds, earbuds, earplugs or hearing aids, which can push wax deeper into the earAge-related changes, making wax drier and harder to expel naturallySkin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis
Symptoms of wax build-up can include: Blocked or a “full” feeling in the ear.Hearing loss or muffled hearing.Ringing (tinnitus).Itchiness or mild discomfort.Occasional dizziness.
Micro-Suction Ear Wax Removal Micro-suction is the safest and most precise method for removing ear wax. It’s the preferred technique used by audiologists and ear specialists worldwide. How It Works: A gentle suction device (similar to a tiny vacuum) is used to remove wax under direct vision with a microscope. No water is used — making it suitable for people with ear infections, perforated eardrums, or grommets. The process is quick, comfortable, and clean.
Benefits of Micro-Suction: Safe and controlled removal under direct visual guidanceNo risk of water-related infectionImmediate improvement in hearing and comfortTypically completed in 15–20 minutes
Ear Wax Prevention Tips While ear wax is normal and healthy, there are a few ways to help prevent build-up:-Avoid inserting objects (like cotton buds) into the ear canal.-Use a softening ear drop occasionally as advised by an audiologist.-Keep ears dry and clean only the outer ear with a cloth.-Schedule a routine ear check once or twice a year if you’re prone to wax build-up or wear hearing aids.
When to Seek Help If you experience any of the following, you should have your ears checked by a professional:Sudden or ongoing hearing lossEar pain or drainagePersistent blockage or fullnessRinging or buzzing in the ear
How much does it cost? At the appointment a hearing test and middle ear function test is undertaken before and after the micro-suction. The cost is $185.00. There is a Medicare rebate on the tests with a doctor's referral.
